Prayer Walk

January 12, 2026 by
Prayer Walk
Cristina Boersma

Description

As a conference add-on, participants are invited to join a guided prayer walk through select ethnic neighbourhoods in the Greater Vancouver area. These prayer walks are designed to combine intentional intercession with thoughtful, relational engagement in the communities we are praying for.

Participants will choose one neighbourhood and be placed in a small group led by an experienced facilitator. Each group will receive a guided assignment to complete during the walk. The assignment will include prayer, observation, listening, and appropriate interaction with people in the neighbourhood, and may also involve engaging with local businesses or cultural expressions unique to that community. All activities are designed to be respectful, relational, and culturally sensitive.

These prayer walks are open to anyone—whether you are new to prayer walking or experienced in cross-cultural ministry. This add-on offers a practical way to grow in compassion, cultural awareness, and attentiveness to what God is already doing in our city.

Facilitators

Glen and Carole  have been involved in empowering the Church to reach out to the nations for 40 years. They love to see ordinary people embrace the call to reach the beautiful people groups from the 10/40 Window that have been flooding our city. They also love to equip ordinary people to GO to the 10/40 Window. In the past 25 years they have been focused on inviting believers to welcome and reach international students, but now they are particularly focused on refugees.

Shane and Alana are followers of Jesus who have lived and prayed intentionally in Surrey for the past decade, longing to see their neighbours—especially those from Muslim and other unreached communities—experience His love and peace. They are passionate about helping others recognize how God is already at work around them and are part of a wider network of Christians seeking to live prayerfully among communities with little access to the gospel, creating simple, practical ways for others to join in prayerful presence in the city.

Kiana was raised in a Muslim family and devoted herself wholeheartedly to seeking God from a young age. In the midst of deep personal pain, her search for truth led her to encounter Jesus Christ, where she found the freedom, healing, and redemption her heart had longed for. Today, as a follower of Jesus, she is passionate about sharing that hope with others and helping extend the Kingdom of God. She loves building relationships and walking alongside people in their faith journey. Kiana has been part of House of Omeed since it's beginnings serving as a missionary in the role of Outreach Coordinator, and her favorite Bible passage is  1 John 4:18-19.
